Guidelines for selection of deserving candidate for Financial Assistance

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
•    Be a resident Indian citizen
•    Students studying in Govt school/Govt aided schools or institutions are eligible to apply for financial support.

•    The applicant’s family annual income must be less than or equal to INR 2,00,000 (two lakhs) (a certificate required to be produced).
•    The student should maintain a strong and consistent academic record, with more than 60% marks.

APPLICATION SELECTION CRITERIA

•    Sri Rag Foundation committee will screen the applications for the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
•    A minimum 50% of the student selected will be girls.
•    Physically challenged and socially/economically backward students will be given further consideration. 
•    Occupation of Parents will be sought.
•    Single parent students will be considered favourably. 
•    Preference will be given to students from village than cities.
•    Preference will be given to students hailing from various states during the selection process

 

APPLICATION  SELECTION PROCESS

•    Firstly, segregation of applications will be based on the eligibility criteria by the selection committee, constituting trustees and advisory board members. 
•    Application selection will be based on the school teachers and head of the school recommendations along with the interviews conducted by the committee.
•    Students, parents and referees may be contacted by the selection committee to verify the documents.
•    Trustees will make the final selection of the students based on the recommendation provided by the selection committee
•    The decision taken by the trustees will be final and cannot be questioned.
•    The selection of students will be announced on the trust website and will be communicated through email.
•    At the end of the academic year, an evaluation of the student will take place. Based on the progress report submitted by the student and the submission of receipt/bills for the previous year.
•    An extension of support will be determined. In cases where progress is not satisfactory trust may withdraw the funding/scholarship for a student and may choose to support another deserving candidate..

 

APPLICATION COMPONENTS

While filling the application form the student has to provide following information

•    Personal information
•    Photograph, identity proof (Aadhar card) of the student. 
•    Parent/Guardian information: Parent/Guardian name, contact, occupation
•    Academic details: Attested marks card copies and marks obtained, school name and address
•    Annual income certificate
Bank Account details: Account Number, IFSC code, Branch name (The student bank account should be a joint or minor account guided by parent or local guardian).
•    Two Referee/ teachers information: Name, contact.
(In certain cases, letters of reference referring to the student's academic capabilities and attests character and leadership traits could be asked later)
•    Extracurricular activities information with supporting evidence

Note: Files to be attached in the application - Aadhar card, student photograph, latest marks card, Annual income certificate, extracurricular certificates (if any).

Guidelines for the selection of MSc students for Career Guidance and Mentoring

  • Sri Rag Foundation welcomes applications from students who are studying in MSc in any branch of biological sciences from all socioeconomic backgrounds for career guidance and mentoring by experts in the area. They will also get the opportunity to listen to lectures from well-known scientists/speakers.

  • Students will get benefited from interaction with our highly qualified mentors who will provide necessary career guidance and advice during the course of time.

  • Online lectures (scientific and public lectures) will be organised by the Trust on Sunday (4 to 5:30 pm; 45 mins lecture and 45 mins interaction with students).

  • Career counselling lectures will be organised once in four months.

  • Sri Rag Foundation will support students who are studying in MSc Biological Science, first year/second year; first/ second/ third/fourth semester from colleges/universities. However, preference will be given to the students studying in colleges.

  • Up to 40 students will be shortlisted for career guidance in 2023. Support provided by the trust will not involve any financial assistance.

  • The career guidance and mentoring program provided by the trust is free of charge and there will not be any fees associated with this.

  • A minimum 50% of the student selected must be girls.

  • Physically challenged and socially/economically backward students should be considered favourably.

  • Occupation of parents will be sought.

  • Preference should be given to students from villages rather than cities.

  • Preference should be given to students hailing from various states during the selection process. However, a maximum of 10-20% of students may be supported from a particular state.

  • A maximum of only two students should be selected from a college/university for the year 2023. 

 

Students must fulfil the following eligibility criteria in order to apply:

  • Fulfil the academic and/or excellence in extracurricular activities.

  • Progress card required (The student should be within Top 25% in the class based on merit in their respective class).

 

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

  • Once a candidate is nominated, they will be asked to fill the form B for further consideration by the selection committee.

  • A selection committee comprising trustees and advisory board members will be constituted for screening and identifying eligible candidates.

  • Shortlisted/identified students may be invited to attend an online interview at the discretion of the trustees. When interviews are required, a selection committee comprising trustees and advisory board members will be constituted.

  • The decision taken by the trustees will be final and cannot be questioned.

  • The selection of students will be announced on the trust website and will be communicated through email and/or phone.

  • A feedback form from students will be collected for every activity of the trust which will to improve and evolve the program.

 

APPLICATION COMPONENTS

Personal Information

  • Academic details: Attested mark card copies and other records, contact details of the College/University head (either soft copy or hard copy of the score card must be submitted). The submitted academic records (only copies) will be managed and maintained by the office of the trust (confidentiality will be maintained).

  • Two Letters of Reference: Referring the student's academic capabilities and attests character and leadership traits (one can be from the nominee who is recommending the candidate).

  • Details of Extracurricular Activities with supporting documents.
